{"id":77163,"date":"2022-11-28T18:58:02","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T17:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nnamdi-kanu-counsel-ejiofor-visits-ipob-leader-in-dss-facility-gives-update"},"modified":"2022-11-28T20:26:40","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T19:26:40","slug":"nnamdi-kanu-counsel-ejiofor-visits-ipob-leader-in-dss-facility-gives-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nnamdi-kanu-counsel-ejiofor-visits-ipob-leader-in-dss-facility-gives-update","title":{"rendered":"Nnamdi Kanu: Counsel Ejiofor visits IPOB leader in DSS facility, gives update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday visited his client at the headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he personally signed, Ejiofor noted that the visit was to provide Kanu with an update on pending actions on the appeal filed by the Federal Government of Nigeria at the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which earlier discharged the secessionist.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawyer, there are indications that the FG is yet to \u201cdemonstrate any willingness to prosecute the appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that the FG is intending to take advantage of the Order for Stay of Execution, to buy time and further detain Kanu at the DSS custody, stating that the \u201cevil scheme is dead on arrival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads: \u201cNow, we have filed application to dismiss the appeal, the Federal Government will have no other availing strategy to rely on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnyendu welcomed the robust strategy being adopted by our erudite Lead Counsel \u2013 Chief Ozekhome, SAN, in ensuring that the law runs its full course. The detail of this strategy remains publicly undisclosed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnyendu as usual admonished Ezigbo UmuChineke to remain ever-focused, and always have their eyes on the ball.
