Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Another round of fuel scarcity has resurfaced in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.<\/p>\n

The scarcity was noticed about two days ago amid long queues of motorists in a few fuel stations with the product.<\/p>\n

Recall that the last fuel scarcity in Ilorin occurred following the crisis of leadership within the Petrol Tanker Drivers Union of Oke-Ogun, Saki, in Oyo State which led to disruption in the supply of fuel to Kwara State.<\/p>\n

Efforts to reach officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, in Ilorin on Wednesday proved abortive.<\/p>\n

Some of the filling stations owned by independent marketers now sell the product at between N220, N230, N250 or N280 per litre.<\/p>\n

The major marketers, however, have retained the official pump price of N190 or N195 per litre though without a stable supply of the product.<\/p>\n

Black marketers of the product have also capitalised on the scarcity to return to their usual business.<\/p>\n

From the Maraba axis to Zango-Kulende area of the Ilorin metropolis, gallons are displayed along the road to announce the availability of the product by hawkers though at a high cost.<\/p>\n

A four-litre gallon of petrol is sold at between N1,600 or N1,800, translating to N400 per litre.<\/p>\n

A dealer of one of the TotalEnergies filling stations in Ilorin who confided in our correspondent disclosed that the scarcity was caused by low supply from Lagos depot.<\/p>\n

In another reaction, an independent marketer, Tajudeen Balogun of Ara-Oje filling station, Abdulazeez Attah Road, Ilorin, said \u201csince we don\u2019t refine our crude oil in the country but rely on importation there will always be a short supply of the product.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said until we put our house in order and do the needful, Nigeria will continue to face the perennial fuel crisis.<\/p>\n
