Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Amid the hard-crunching poverty in the country, Mohammed Shehu, the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, says his Commission will review the salaries of public officers to reflect current socio-economic realities in the country.<\/p>\n

Shehu also said the commission will in no distant time implement the upward review of the salaries of judicial officers.<\/p>\n

He disclosed this on Thursday while appearing on the Channels Television\u2019s Sunrise Daily programme.<\/p>\n

The RMAFC boss lamented that some public servants earn salaries bigger than that of President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n

Shehu also revealed that some staff of government agencies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), amongst others, earn salaries bigger than the President.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the proposal for the regularisation of the salary schemes for the civil service, he said no public official should earn more than the President.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I was saying at that time is that no public servant should earn salaries bigger than Mr President\u2019s,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
