{"id":77582,"date":"2022-12-07T19:17:43","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T18:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/132626-pvcs-remain-uncollected-in-anambra-inec"},"modified":"2022-12-07T19:17:43","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T18:17:43","slug":"132626-pvcs-remain-uncollected-in-anambra-inec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/132626-pvcs-remain-uncollected-in-anambra-inec","title":{"rendered":"132,626 PVCs remain uncollected in Anambra \u2013 INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that 132,626 Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) belonging to voters in the 21 local government areas of Anambra State are still uncollected.<\/p>\n<p>The commission also stated that it has relocated six local government area collection centres in the state, as a result of the insecurity ravaging most parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, stated this on Wednesday, during a meeting with stakeholders at the state headquarters of the commission.<\/p>\n<p>Agwu who addressed all the political parties representatives, traditional rulers and civil society groups said the local government areas where the relocation of collation centres took place include Ihiala, Nnewi South, Onitsha North, Orumba North, Awka North and Awka South.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThe collection of PVCs has been extended to Saturdays and Sundays in Anambra State. We need enough security to carry out this function. If people fail to collect their PVC, they will be shortchanging themselves, and doing a disservice to the people of their area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2023 general elections will be free, fair and credible, not only in Anambra State but the entire country. We have done the necessary work, and we hope to deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She gave a breakdown of the figures of uncollected PVCs in most local government areas as follows: Ayamelum \u2013 1,960; Dunukofia \u2013 6,222; Idemili South \u2013 4\u2019589; Anaocha \u2013 885; Orumba South -6,656; Onitsha South \u2013 12,274; Idemili North \u2013 16,256; Aguata \u2013 12675; Njikoka \u2013 7,009; Ogbaru \u2013 10,755 and Anambra East \u2013 7,717.<\/p>\n<p>Others are Nnewi South \u2013 1,841; Awka North \u2013 1,153; Anambra West \u2013 1,387; Orumba North \u2013 2,393; Oyi \u2013 7,982; Onitsha North \u2013 9,990; Ihiala \u2013 4,058; Nnewi North \u2013 8,700; Ekwusigo \u2013 3,350 and Awka South \u2013 4,971.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
