{"id":77678,"date":"2022-12-09T10:40:39","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T09:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/makinde-approves-reconstruction-of-oke-ogun-road-iseyin-town-hall"},"modified":"2022-12-09T10:40:39","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T09:40:39","slug":"makinde-approves-reconstruction-of-oke-ogun-road-iseyin-town-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/makinde-approves-reconstruction-of-oke-ogun-road-iseyin-town-hall","title":{"rendered":"Makinde approves reconstruction of Oke-Ogun Road, Iseyin Town Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the reconstruction of Ijio-Idiko-Ile Road.<\/p>\n<p>The road is one of the roads in the Oke Ogun geo-political zone in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Oke Ogun is one of the five zones in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde, while speaking on Thursday, said that he had approved the reconstruction of the road.<\/p>\n<p>He spoke during a town hall meeting held at Iseyin Town Hall in Iseyin Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>The town hall meeting was attended by some personalities in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those who were at the meeting included the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal; and Deputy National Chairman, South, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Taofeek Arapaja.<\/p>\n<p>Others are the PDP Chairman in the state, Dayo Ogungbenro, and former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde, while addressing the gathering, explained that work is ongoing at the College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin Campus of the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the campus lecture theatre would be named after the immediate past Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul Ganiy Adekunle Salau.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde also announced that he had approved the upgrade of Iseyin Township Hall.<\/p>\n<p>He said that there were clashes in some parts of the state, but Amotekun, Police and other security agencies have been able to manage and resolve some of those problems.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Fulanis and the Yorubas have been living together in the state for several years.<\/p>\n<p>He said that when he came into government, the state recorded farmers\u2019 and herders\u2019 clashes almost weekly.<\/p>\n<p>He explained further that his government, in November 2019, banned open grazing to avoid clashes.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde said, \u201cWhen we came into government, we used to record farmers and herders clashes almost every week. In November 2019, I banned open grazing in Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLater, we set up Amotekun. Everybody thought we created the outfit to send away the Fulani herdsmen but in Oyo State, the Fulanis and Yorubas have been living together.
