{"id":77694,"date":"2022-12-09T10:42:30","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T09:42:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/dbanj-name-government-officials-involved-nigerians-tell-icpc"},"modified":"2022-12-09T10:42:30","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T09:42:30","slug":"dbanj-name-government-officials-involved-nigerians-tell-icpc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/dbanj-name-government-officials-involved-nigerians-tell-icpc","title":{"rendered":"D\u2019banj: Name government officials involved \u2013 Nigerians tell ICPC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Following the arrest of popular Nigerian musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known as D\u2019banj, for alleged fraud associated with the N-Power Programme, Nigerians have called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to name the politicians, and government officials involved in the said deal.<\/p>\n<p>The singer was said to have successfully diverted the N-Power fund with the help of some top government officials.<\/p>\n<p>Nigerians are now insisting on the need for the commission to be transparent in their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The ICPC arrested D\u2019banj on Tuesday on issues concerning alleged illegal diversion of funds meant for beneficiaries of the Federal Government N-Power programme.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming his arrest, ICPC in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the singer is currently assisting the investigators to unravel the circumstances of the fraud allegations by the petitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Admitting the financial irregularities, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development who oversees the affairs of National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), said it invited the anti-graft agency for a thorough probe after receiving petitions about some sharp practices by personnels of the Payment Service Provider involved in the payment processes of the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry added that the embattled singer was never its brand ambassador for the N-Power program.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with DAILY POST, a public commentator and activist, Jaye Gaskiya, urged the ICPC to properly investigate the matter irrespective of who is involved, adding that \u201cif there is any wrongdoing on the part of D\u2019banj, he should be punished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cD\u2019banj couldn\u2019t have done it alone if the allegation turned out to be true, so let him speak, he should be allowed to speak up and should not be denied access to the media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission should be looking at when exactly the missing fund was discovered, how it was discovered and how long it took between when it was discovered to when the investigation triggered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to this, Nigerians on social media also demanded for the Minister\u2019s probe.<\/p>\n<p>@ChukyUnfazed, \u201cIf the woman in charge is not arrested together with other officials, then you are not serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>@Sunshine4realsh, \u201cYou all mentioned and arrested D\u2019banj but the government officials are unknown, So painful, no transparency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>lerritweet, \u201cVery easy for ICPC to arrest D\u2019banj and broadcast it but the government officials he allegedly colluded with cannot be named right?, This country and double standards, we are watching.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>@OlusholaOba, \u201cThe greatest fraud in npower is @Sadiya_farouq joined by the house committee on disaster, those people have finished Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>@Joseph_Messii, \u201cThe minister should be invited too because N-Power beneficiaries have been complaining about non-payment since she took over.<\/p>\n<p>@alber_965, \u201cThe ministry has failed many Nigerians , they have been trading or doing business with our money.
