Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and
\nNew Media, Lere Olayinka has challenged the Minister for Steel and
\nMinerals Resources Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to walk the streets
\nof Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital without security men and see
\nwhether he won\u2019t be stoned by angry people of Ekiti State whose money
\nhe looted during his tenure as governor.<\/p>\n
Olayinka said; \u201cAs governor, Fayemi failed Ekiti people and as a
\nminister, he is also failing Ekiti people because up till today, he
\ncannot point to one benefit Ekiti has derived from having him as
\nminister of Mines and Steel Development despite the numerous solid
\nminerals in the State.\u201d<\/p>\n
While reacting to comment by Fayemi that the public should wait and
\nsee who will go to jail between him and Fayose, and that he had have
\nbeen out of office and still moving free, but Fayose won\u2019t be able to
\nwalk free on the streets after losing immunity, Olayinka challenged
\nFayemi to subject himself to the court of public opinion in Ekiti
\nState by walking from Fajuyi Park to the All Progressives Congress
\n(APC) office in Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti without being guarded by armed
\nsecurity men.<\/p>\n
\u201cFact is, even a councilor in Ado Local Government is more popular
\nthan Fayemi and he can let us proof this by walking the streets in the
\nState capital without his retinue of security aides,\u201d Olayinka said.<\/p>\n
The governor\u2019s spokesperson, who described Fayemi as one of the
\nbeneficiaries of President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s policy of protecting
\narmed robbers in his government and running after petty thieves for
\npolitical gains, added that; \u201ca man who illegally used Fountain
\nHoldings, a company with N15 million share capital to obtain N5
\nbillion loan for sham road construction projects, took N25 billion
\nbond and diverted chunk of the money into private pockets and plunged
\nEkiti State into debt should be cooling his heads in prison by now if
\ntruly President Buhari is fighting corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n
He reminded the former governor that he must refund a sum of N2.75
\nbillion allocated from the N25 billion bond obtained by the government
\nfor the execution of contract for the construction of Ultra-Modern
\nmarket in Ado Ekiti, which was never executed.<\/p>\n
Olayinka said further, \u201cA man who as governor, awarded contract of
\nover N600 million to a company with no traceable address and carted
\naway 17 Joylong Buses that Coscharis Motors supplied to the Ekiti
\nState Government as gift can only be a minister under a government of
\ntreasury looters like that of President Buhari.<\/p>\n
Olayinka reminded Fayemi that he never won any election in Ekiti,
\nsating \u201ceven the primary election that gave him the Action Congress
\n(AC) governorship ticket in 2006 was manipulated and those who did the
\nmanipulation are still alive. He was roundly defeated by the Peoples
\nDemocratic Party (PDP) in 2007 and in the rerun election of 2009 until
\nthe governorship was handed to him through the most scandalous
\njudicial manipulation in the history of Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said apart from regular monthly allocation of over N160 billion,
\nFayemi also received N46.4 billion from the Excess Crude Account, yet
\nhe took N25 billion bond and N31 billion commercial bank loan. One of
\nsuch frivolous loans was the N5 billion obtained from a commercial
\nbank without the Debt Management Office (DMO) approval, using Fountain
\nHoldings Limited, a company with N15 million share capital.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow a limited liability company with N15 million share capital could
\nbe used to borrow N5 billion and when it became the duty of Fountain
\nHoldings Limited to construct roads are two questions Fayemi has
\nrefused to answer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olayinka, who encouraged Fayemi to come out openly to declare his
\nintention to contest the 2018 governorship, said; \u201cWhen he mounts the
\ncampaign podium, we want to know what he will be telling Ekiti people
\nthat he has done for the State as minister for Steel and Minerals
\nResources Development.\u201d<\/p>\n
