Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Point of Sale (POS) operators in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital are currently smiling to the banks with more profit.<\/p>\n

Observation showed that they are attending to more customers than ever before.<\/p>\n

The POS operators are currently experiencing more traffic due to the failure of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in most parts of Ibadan to dispense cash.<\/p>\n

The development may not be unconnected with the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) that commercial banks should fill their ATMs with the newly redesigned naira notes.<\/p>\n

A source hinted that owing to the non-availability of the new notes, the banks have left the ATMs with zero cash.<\/p>\n

In all the locations in Ibadan, the ATMs were not dispensing cash, leaving customers at the mercy of POS operators.<\/p>\n

It was observed that the POS operators decided to station themselves beside the ATMs, with most of them tripling their daily earnings.<\/p>\n

A bank customer, who identified himself as Mr. Daramola told DAILY POST on Tuesday that he visited three banks on Monday but none of the ATMs at the entrances of the banks paid him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to several banks to use their ATMs on Monday. I visited three banks at Mokola to use their ATMs, but they are not dispensing money. Could you believe that the POS operators have stationed themselves at the entrance of one of the commercial banks at Mokola, because they knew that the ATMs are not dispensing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is unnecessary hardship. The CBN should intervene. Why did they fail to load their ATMs with new notes? The CBN should sanction the banks for failure to load their ATMs with money.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are now making money for the POS operators. Our loss is now the gains of the POS operators who are now making more money because they see more customers now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Another customer, Mr. Olusanjo appealed to the CBN to summon the bank managers in Ibadan over the failure to load their ATMs with money.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my opinion, I will urge the CBN to summon the heads of all the banks in Ibadan. The CBN has ordered them to load their ATMs with new notes but they refused.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been to the Secretariat, no ATM is dispensing, I have been to UI and Bodija and I have been to Mokola.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have any other option than to go to the POS because I have wasted many hours today. I have spent money on transportation. It is so unfortunate,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n
