{"id":82053,"date":"2023-02-08T13:52:53","date_gmt":"2023-02-08T12:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ebonyi-lp-chieftain-defects-to-pdp"},"modified":"2023-02-08T15:07:24","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T14:07:24","slug":"ebonyi-lp-chieftain-defects-to-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/ebonyi-lp-chieftain-defects-to-pdp","title":{"rendered":"Ebonyi LP chieftain defects to PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Henry Ude (AjimBest), a chieftain of the Labour Party in Ebonyi, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement on Wednesday in Abakaliki signed by Chief Abia Onyike, the Director, Media and Publicity, PDP Governorship Campaign Council.<\/p>\n<p>Ude, one of the founding fathers of Ebonyi and an LP stalwart in Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, confirmed the development when he spoke with journalists in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n<p>He said his decision to return to his former party was to help in the struggle to free the state from its political quagmire.<\/p>\n<p>Ude, a founding member of PDP, was famous for singlehandedly sponsoring media advertisements during the struggle for the creation of Ebonyi in the early 1990s by the military Head of State, late Gen. Sani Abacha.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he was convinced that the PDP could restore peace, security and freedom to the people in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am in PDP now to join the rest of our patriotic forces who are yearning for freedom of movement, freedom of association and freedom for liberty and progress,\u201d Ude said.<\/p>\n<p>He enjoined the people to join the new political liberation movement led by the state PDP governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, to wrestle power from the APC-led administration in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am assuring Ebonyi people that it is feasible, achievable and possible for PDP to reclaim its stolen mandate in order to reposition the state through good governance to cater for the welfare and well-being of the masses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe secret of life is, \u2018have no fear\u2019 when you are being pushed and you continue to run, you will never stop running.
