Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory and Minority Leader of the Senate, Philip Aduda has vowed to challenge the results that produced Ireti Kingibe as the winner of the FCT seat at the tribunal.<\/p>\n

Aduda said he will go to the tribunal as a result of his belief that the result was announced before the conclusion of votes collation while expressing the belief that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should have declared the exercise inconclusive due to its attendant crisis.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker broke his silence at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, barely three weeks after the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections.<\/p>\n

He claimed that there were irregularities that suggested that the election was manipulated in favour of Kingibe of which he expressed optimism that the tribunal would do justice at the end of the day.<\/p>\n

The Minority Leader of the 9th Senate, further explained that the announcement was in disregard of results cancelled in other polling units across the 62 wards in six area councils.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe election as guided by the extant laws used by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was supposed to have been declared inconclusive.<\/p>\n

\u201cPointedly, in substantial numbers of the polling units, there was over voting which led to the cancellation of results that were supposed to have been revisited by INEC through rescheduled election but from nowhere, we had that results were declared. We are going to challenge it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
