Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Bandits on Tuesday evening shot dead a soldier while three others sustained gunshot injuries during exchange of gunfire in Akoti village near Kagarko town in Kaduna State.<\/p>\n

A resident of the community, Musa Arungo, who confirmed the incident , said a civilian was also injured during the battle with the bandits.<\/p>\n

According to him, the incident happened on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the bandits rustled over 80 cows and were passing through Akpoti village when soldiers were alerted.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, the bandits killed a soldier, wounded three in the process.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the villagers was hit by a stray bullet from the bandits and he is currently receiving treatment at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

The Madaki of Janjala, Samaila Babangida, also confirmed the incident, adding that \u201cfrom the information I received this morning, the soldiers came from Kaduna to evacuate the three injured soldiers and the corpse of the one killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him.<\/p>\n
