Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Niger State Governor-elect, Hon Umar Mohammed Bago on Thursday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC, in the state.<\/p>\n

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Ahmed Yusha\u2019u Garki presented the Certificate of Return to the Governor-elect and his Deputy Governor-Elect in Minna.<\/p>\n

He explained that INEC has delivered on its promise to the people of Niger State, while describing the election as peaceful, transparent and good omen for the country.<\/p>\n

Garki stated, \u201cToday marks the climax of the 2023 general election as all candidates from the governor-elect, deputy governor-elect to members-elect of Niger State House of Assembly are certified by INEC as the Winners in the various electoral positions contested in the just concluded election in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

He commended efforts and sacrifices of both the INEC and ad hoc staff as well as other relevant stakeholders for ensuring the hitch-free conduct of the polls in the state.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cLet me commend the hard work, sacrifices and commitment of many people, especially the tireless commitment of our staff, both tenured and ad hoc, who endured all situations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe salute them and all our partners and collaborators, especially the security agencies, all civil society organisations, political parties, the media community and everyone who played a role in the success of the election.\u201d<\/p>\n

The REC also tasked the governor-elect, his deputy and the house of assembly members to ensure the government of Niger State under their leadership is conducted and anchored on transparency and responsibility to the people.<\/p>\n

In his response after receiving his Certificate of Return, the governor-elect, Hon Bago thanked the INEC for conducting transparent, free and fair elections in the state.<\/p>\n

He noted, \u201cPower is granted by God, and I assure that I will prioritise the security and welfare of the people. I also commend Nigerlites for the trust they put in me. I will never betray you, I will ensure good leadership and good governance.\u201d<\/p>\n
