Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, has insisted that midfielder Mateo Kovacic is important for the team, suggesting that he wants to keep the former Real Madrid star at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Potter said this while confirming his intention to trim the Chelsea squad in the summer window.<\/p>\n

Recall that Kovacic, who is out of contract in the summer of 2024, has been linked with a reunion with his former manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe size of the squad is something we have to look at for the summer, but in the meantime, that is what we are working with,\u201d Potter told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cMateo is similar to Mason. He is someone I have huge respect for as a person. He has been great with us, very supportive, he plays a role in the team and has been the captain the last few games as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, from my perspective, he is important, but again, it is also between Mateo and the club to talk and when they have something to announce, I am sure they will announce it.\u201d<\/p>\n
