Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State has urged the party faithful and the general public to disregard and ignore the alleged expulsion of its gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, by a faction of the party in the State.<\/p>\n

The APC said the alleged expulsion of Omo-Agege is the handiwork of mischief makers.<\/p>\n

Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie and Secretary, Peter Akarogbe made the call in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday.<\/p>\n

The statement said, \u201cThey claim to hold positions at the various levels of the party \u2013 Wards, Local Government Areas, Senatorial Districts and at the State Headquarters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, the legitimate and only recognised State Executive Committee of the Party, at the National Headquarters, in consultations with all other levels in the chain, hereby disclaim the publication as fraudulent, a ruse and of no consequence.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore it should be disregarded and ignored as the handiwork of mischief makers by all party faithfuls and the general public.\u201d<\/p>\n

The APC explained that \u201cThe Executive Committee members of the APC at the Wards, Local Governments, Senatorial Districts and State levels, were duly elected at the different Congresses organised by the party. They remain legitimate and still hold their offices and positions in accordance with the APC Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe various levels of the Executive Committees of the All Progressives Congress at the Wards, Local Governments, Senatorial Districts and the State, were elected by bona fide members of the Party, in an open, transparent process, duly designated, approved and coordinated by the National Headquarters.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the light of the foregoing, the names of the Executive Committee members of the APC at the Wards, Local Governments, Senatorial Districts and the State, are in the National Secretariat of the Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which duly monitored the congresses as required by law.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsequent on the above, the signatories to the said publication are not only dubious impostors but very reckless with their publication. In this regard, their claims could cause a breach of public peace and must not be permitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Nigerian Police Force, DSS and other security agencies are enjoined to take note of the wanton rascality and the unscrupulous intent to cause disharmony and a breach of public peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe general public, party faithfuls and stakeholders are therefore advised to discountence the said publication, and view it as the worthless undertaking of men with crooked intentions.\u201d<\/p>\n

It would be recalled that a faction of the APC had expelled the Deputy President of the Senate, Omo-Agege, from the party over alleged anti-party activities and other offences.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent reports that the APC in the state is divided as Dr. Cairo Ojuogbo is at loggerheads with Omo-Agege over political matters within the party in the State.<\/p>\n

The opposition party in Delta State is catching on the division of the APC as it is allegedly sponsoring disgruntled elements within the APC to champion the political fight against Omo-Agege.<\/p>\n

Omo-Agege hasn\u2019t made any public statement since the governorship election and even with the media propaganda against him by the opposition and faction of the APC in Delta State.<\/p>\n
