Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, has joined the race for the speakership of the lower chamber, noting that the ruling party owes him for taking bullets for the party.<\/p>\n

He stated this on Wednesday while announcing his entry into the race.<\/p>\n

It would be recalled that Mr Kalu is the only APC rep to emerge in Abia State, and armed men attacked his campaign office during the general election.<\/p>\n

While announcing his entry, Kalu said the ruling party owed him because he stood by Bola Tinubu even when it was a taboo in the southeast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI defended my party, I took bullets for my party, I projected my presidential candidate even when it was like a taboo to do so in the south-eastern region. My office received hundreds of bullets or more because I was preaching APC.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time for a reward. If there is loyalty to the party, loyalty should always be rewarded to stimulate further loyalty. If I stood firm to win for my party in Bende Federal Constituency, as the only surviving APC House of Reps member in the entire Abia State, it means that I have something to offer, and I defended my party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kalu has now joined other speakership candidates in the race. Others include the Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase, Yusuf Gagdi, and Abubakar Makki.<\/p>\n
