Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has demanded that the Adamawa State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, should be investigated by the police.<\/p>\n

Falana claimed that Binani\u2019s acceptance speech confirmed that she was party to the illegal declaration, which he described as a \u201dcharade\u201d.<\/p>\n

The legal expert made the statement on Thursday while fielding questions on Channels Television\u2019s Sunrise Daily program.<\/p>\n

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Barrister Hudu Yunusa, shocked the nation with what many had described as a coup when he usurped the power of the Returning Officer to declare Binani, winner of the State guber election.<\/p>\n

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, swiftly denounced the purported declaration of Binani as the winner of the Adamawa election by the REC.<\/p>\n

The Commission said the action of the REC amounts to usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer, insisting it is null, void and of no effect.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Falana said she has to be brought in by the police and investigated.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201dWith respect to the acceptance speech, the acceptance speech already confirmed that she was party to the charade. She has to be brought in by the police and investigated. How did you prepare a speech if you did not know that you were going to be declared the winner because, at that stage, the coalition had not been concluded?<\/p>\n
