Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Travellers were over the weekend stranded on the Akure-Ore highway following the protest embarked upon by students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State.<\/p>\n

The students were outraged over the campus\u2019s lack of water and electricity in the past few months.<\/p>\n

The students, in their numbers who stormed the highway, accused the institution\u2019s management of not showing concern about their welfare.<\/p>\n

Following the development, motorists had to take alternative routes through Ondo town to continue their journey.<\/p>\n

The students were said to have stormed the streets and halted vehicular movement for several hours.<\/p>\n

According to one of the students, who gave her name as Modupe, \u201cwe were treated unfairly despite the huge levies being collected from us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many of the students came out with empty buckets and used them to block the highway to show the lack of water in their hostels.<\/p>\n

They vowed to continue the protest until the school\u2019s management found solutions to the water scarcity and lack of electricity on the campus.<\/p>\n

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force who were drafted to the scene were on ground to prevent possible breakdown of law and order.<\/p>\n

When contacted, the college spokesman, Oluseto Olatuyipe, disclosed, \u201cManagement is working on the issues raised.\u201d<\/p>\n
