Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi has called for the zoning of Senate Presidency and Speakership to women.<\/p>\n

Oyefusi made the demand while speaking to reporters on the role of women in political participation and the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

The 10th National Assembly in Nigeria is expected to be inaugurated in the first or second week in June after the swearing-in of President-elect Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n

Oyefusi noted that having women lead the federal legislature would substantiate the reality of running an inclusive government.<\/p>\n

On Monday, she said it was important to uphold the provisions of the national gender policy and be intentionally gender inclusive.<\/p>\n

The woman advocate asked political leaders to honour the judgment on the implementation of the national gender policy.<\/p>\n

The judgement was granted in favour of Nigerian women by Honourable Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am using this opportunity to call on all elected lawmakers to zone the Speaker and Senate President positions to the female gender.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will substantiate the reality of running an inclusive government. Such action will be described as a show of peace and understanding,\u201d Oyefusi noted.<\/p>\n
