Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The governments of Nigeria and Indonesia on Tuesday in Abuja signed a letter of intent to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.<\/p>\n

At the ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Permanent Secretary Ibrahim Kana, represented the Minister of Defence Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd).<\/p>\n

Kana signed for the country, while the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Hustra Harahap, also appended his signature.<\/p>\n

The deal is aimed at promoting defence cooperation in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulation of the two nations.<\/p>\n

The agreement includes exchange of high ranking operational officials, promotion of education and training, promotion of defence industries and intelligence sharing.<\/p>\n

Kana assured the 5-man Indonesian delegation that Nigeria is poised to drive the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).<\/p>\n

The PS hailed the long history of robust relationship between Nigeria and Indonesia with common areas of interests as members of G-30 and G-8 countries.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Harahap assured Nigeria of his country\u2019s total commitment to abide by the articles contained in the signed document.<\/p>\n

In attendance were the Ministry\u2019s Director of Joint Services, Olu Mustapha; Director \u2013 Medical, Dr Olajide Johnson; Director \u2013 Press; Victoria Agba-Atta; Special Adviser \u2013 Technical, Major General Ahmed Tijani Jibrin (rtd).<\/p>\n

On the Ambassador\u2019s team were Defence Attache Colonel Otlow Resalino; the Minister Counsellor, Mrs Tuty Dityawanty; the Chancery, Fahmi Aris; Secretary Defence Attache, Farouk Hashim.<\/p>\n
