Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bayelsa National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal will hold its inaugural sitting in Yenagoa on Thursday, on 31 petitions before it.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST learnt that out of the 31 one petitions received so far, a total of nine were from the outcome of the National Assembly elections and 22 were from State House of Assembly polls.<\/p>\n

The second election petition tribunal panel commenced on Monday at the High Court complex Sagbama, while the inaugural sitting of the first panel will commence next Monday.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the second panel, Justice Oluwatoyin Fadeyi, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, warned litigants and counsels to desist from seeking unnecessary adjournments and filing of frivolous applications.<\/p>\n

She also said preliminary objections which are time wasting and aimed at perverting the course of justice should be avoided.<\/p>\n

She noted that since the tribunal is time bound, there\u2019s a need to support and cooperate with all parties to administer justice.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cWe solicit your support and cooperation in administering justice to all manner of people via petitions filed before the tribunal. As it is described, election petitions before the tribunal are time bound and by their nature peculiar from other proceedings.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe undertake to abide by our oath of office, and mandate in dispensing justice with the help of God almighty.\u201d<\/p>\n
