Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>An International Relations expert, Ikiri Joe, has said that the Government of the United Kingdom does not regard Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Joe\u2019s comment follows the refusal of the UK to pardon Senator Ike Ekweremadu despite pleas of clemency by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, the Economic Community of West African States as well as the leadership of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

He said Nigeria would have yielded to UK Government\u2019s plea, if it was their citizens arrested in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Joe, in an interview with DAILY POST, also said Nigeria will learn its lesson, following the recent event.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThat decision shows the way Britain as a country and its institutions regard Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey do not regard Nigeria in any way and I\u2019m sure from this event Nigeria as a country will learn a lesson.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it were British citizens that were arrested in Nigeria, and Britain pleaded for clemency, I\u2019m sure Nigeria would have yielded. But for the case of Nigeria, they did not\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
