{"id":87668,"date":"2023-05-08T11:24:41","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T10:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ibadan-based-socialist-laoye-sanda-is-dead"},"modified":"2023-05-08T13:04:31","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T12:04:31","slug":"ibadan-based-socialist-laoye-sanda-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/ibadan-based-socialist-laoye-sanda-is-dead","title":{"rendered":"Ibadan-based Socialist, Laoye Sanda is dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>An Ibadan-based human rights activist, Comrade Laoye Sanda is dead.<\/p>\n<p>Sanda was among the academics sacked by the then Olusegun Obasanjo military government.<\/p>\n<p>They were sacked owing to their support for the students\u2019 uprising tagged \u201cAli Must go\u201d in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>The socialist died on Thursday,<\/p>\n<p>The Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) confirmed his demise on Sunday in a statement signed by the duo of Abiodun Bamigboye (Acting National Chairperson) and Bosah Chinedu (National Secretary).<\/p>\n<p>They described the deceased as a longstanding revolutionary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor instance, he was among the academics sacked by Olusegun Obasanjo military government because of their support for the students\u2019 uprising tagged \u2018Ali Must go\u2019 in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil his death, he was a close collaborator of the SPN.
