Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Anambra State Police Command has rescued the victims abducted after a United States Embassy convoy was ambushed.<\/p>\n

Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu made the announcement in an update issued Friday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the early hours of today, 19\/5\/2023, joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

The motorcade was attacked on May 16 along Atani\/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.<\/p>\n

The U.S. delegation, including Nigerian and American officials, were on a mission to assess the impact of erosion in Ogbaru LGA.<\/p>\n

The police said nine persons died and put the blame on members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN)\/Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).<\/p>\n

Their names are Jefferson Obayuwane (retired DSS personnel), Sunday Prince Ubong, Ekene Nweke, Hassan Etila, Avwuvie Kaye.<\/p>\n

Others who lost their lives were four policemen: Bukar A. Kabuiki, Emmanuel Lukpata, Friday Morgan and Adamu Andrew<\/p>\n

The police confirmed that the remains of the deceased persons were all recovered and deposited in a morgue.<\/p>\n
