Some of the richest women in the world today made their fortunes from high-profile splits. The top 5 richest men in the world have all been caught in the divorce web -one of them thrice and twice from the same woman.<\/p>\n

The divorce between the world\u2019s fourth richest man, Bill Gates, and his estranged wife, Melinda Gates could be the most expensive in the world to date.<\/p>\n

When the couple announced the end of their 27-year-old marriage in May 2021, there were possibilities that Mrs. Gates walked away with a staggering $73bn if their $146 billion assets were equally split as stipulated by the Washington divorce law called community property.<\/p>\n

The world\u2019s third-wealthiest woman, MacKenzie Scott made her US$27 billion fortune from her divorce from Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos.<\/p>\n

Scott was paid $38bn as a divorce settlement from the then world\u2019s richest man after their 26-year-old marriage crashed in 2019.<\/p>\n

One of the priciest divorce settlements in history is the case between the \u201cCatwoman,\u201d Jocelyn Wildenstein, and her billionaire art dealer husband, Alec Wildenstein, in the late 1990s.<\/p>\n

The \u201cCatwoman\u201d, as she is known by her plastic surgery moniker, got a juicy settlement after a messy divorce from her estranged husband- she caught the art dealer in bed with another woman.<\/p>\n

Jocelyn was awarded $2.5bn and $100 million annually for the next 13 years, amounting to a total of $3.8bn.<\/p>\n

The world\u2019s second-wealthiest man, Elon Musk has been divorced twice \u2013 thrice actually; he divorced two times from his second wife.<\/p>\n

His 8-year-old marriage to his first wife, Justine Musk hit the rock in 2008.<\/p>\n

Justine was awarded their Bel Air home. In addition to that, Elon Musk claimed in a blog post for Business Insider that the divorce had saddled him with $170,000 average monthly legal bills.<\/p>\n

Musk lost $4.2 million to his second wife, actress Talulah Riley in 2012 through a divorce settlement.<\/p>\n

The couple reunited in 2013. However, they got separated again in 2015.<\/p>\n

TMZ reported that the Tesla boss agreed to Riley\u2019s $16 million after their second divorce.<\/p>\n

Another group that has been hard hit by the expensive divorce plague is the sporting world.<\/p>\n

One of the most expensive celebrity divorces in the world to date is golfer Tiger Woods\u2019s separation from Elin Nordegren in 2010.<\/p>\n

In addition to receiving $110 million from the divorce settlement, Nordegren also received monthly child support that came to about $20,000.<\/p>\n

American boxer, Mike Tyson lost $10m from his $50m worth to his ex-wife, Robin Givens after their Valentine\u2019s Day divorce on February 14, 1989.<\/p>\n

Former Arsenal defender, Emmanuel Eboue\u0301 lost his entire \u20ac7m net worth to his estranged Belgian wife, Aurelie Betrand after their messy divorce in 2017.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the divorce, the Ivorien said he was \u201cpoor and homeless.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he struggled with mental health as a result of the shocking divorce.<\/p>\n

Some months ago, news filtered on social media that Moroccan footballer, Achraf Hakimi dribbled his ex-wife, Hiba Abouk in their ongoing divorce case.<\/p>\n

Report said the PSG star transferred all his wealth to his mother, meaning the Spanish actress would not be entitled to any of the footballer\u2019s fortunes.<\/p>\n

Hakimi and Abouk are yet to confirm or deny the viral reports.<\/p>\n

Recently, a report making the rounds on social media said Charlotte Powdrell, the estranged girlfriend of Nigerian-New-Zealander mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya, has taken the UFC middleweight Champion to court and demanded half of his wealth.<\/p>\n

Powdrell reportedly claimed that her relationship with the \u201cLast Stylebender\u201d was long enough to warrant her access to a portion of his assets despite never being married or having any child with him.<\/p>\n

Adesanya in a cryptic post shared via his Instastory seemed to have reacted to the viral report.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you came into his life with nothing and tried to leave with millions. But like Achraf Hakimi, my assets are protected. I would have taken half her sh*t too but I don\u2019t want half of NOTHING,\u201d the 33-year-old said, per Essentially Sports.<\/p>\n
