Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Laolu Akande, media aide to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele is being embattled due to corruption in the dual exchange rate policy of the apex bank.<\/p>\n

In a tweet on Saturday, Akande opined that the battle against Emefiele was not about the CBN cashless policy as was widely speculated but due to corruption.<\/p>\n

He said the suspension and subsequent arrest of Emefiele by the Department of State Services, DSS was a relief for Nigerians.<\/p>\n

He wrote, \u201cIt was about time the CBN Governor faced suspension & investigation. All people of goodwill & those who value integrity, irrespective of political leanings would be thankful for this development.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmefiele was given a long rope, but he failed to redeem himself. His shenanigans & the colossal damages he perpetrated at the CBN was to the utter detriment of the Nigerian people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not even about cashless policy, but apparent corruption especially in the dual exchange rate policy which never made sense. What a sigh of relief\u201d!<\/p>\n
