Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Senator Ajibola Basiru has waved off the influence of ex-Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.<\/p>\n

The immediate past spokesperson of the Senate declared that the former governor is no longer a leader of the party in the state.<\/p>\n

Basiru had a chat with reporters on Wednesday during a welcome back event at his senatorial office in Osogbo, the capital.<\/p>\n

The politician said the former minister failed to work for the party or President Bola Tinubu during his campaign or election.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Aregbesola was our leader, but I don\u2019t know which party he belongs to now. I am not abusing him. Even Asiwaju, his benefactor, didn\u2019t vote for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo and ask him which party he voted for in the governorship election, the presidential election and the House of Assembly election.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past three elections, we have not seen him participating in any of our party\u2019s activities,\u201d Basiru noted.<\/p>\n

He mentioned \u201cBaba (former Governor) Bisi Akande and (former Governor) Gboyega Oyetola\u201d as APC leaders in Osun.<\/p>\n

Basiru recalled that Aregesbola was absent at \u201cfour important processes\u201d before the general elections, including primary and campaign events.<\/p>\n

The former minister\u2019s refusal to support his \u201cmentor\u201d to emerge as APC\u2019s candidate is \u201ca moral question they must answer\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
