Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The newly-elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and his Deputy, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, have pledged to work for Nigerians during their dispensation as presiding officers of the 10th House.<\/p>\n

The duo stated this while on a \u2018thank-you\u2019 visit to Nigeria\u2019s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Abuja.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi on Sunday and made available to journalists in Abuja, the lawmakers, who were elected on June 13, 2023 after their inauguration, pledged that they will ensure 10th Assembly works for all Nigerians.<\/p>\n

Abbas said that the overwhelming support accorded him by his colleagues remains an onerous reason that the lower legislative chamber under his watch will achieve a Nigeria that every citizen desires.<\/p>\n

The speaker led other members of the House on a thank you visit to the first lady, stating that the first lady\u2019s support for them would not be taken for granted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe resolved to visit and thank you. The 10th House would give the Tinubu-led administration all the support it needs to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Speaker noted that some key officials, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are products of the legislature, hence, it will be a smooth sail for the administration in terms of lawmaking.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President, the Vice-President, the First Lady, the Chief of Staff to the President, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation were all members of the National Assembly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time we are having this kind of arrangement in our history,\u201d Abbas noted, adding that the 10th House will ensure that the government succeeds.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cToday is a very historic day. We have come to thank you for your support. We were here before to seek your support and prayers. Here we are today; we have won. It was through your collective efforts\u2014Mr. President, yourself, governors, and all the other stakeholders. We have emerged in an unprecedented manner\u2014353 out of 359 voted for me. It has never happened in our history.\u201d<\/p>\n
