{"id":9108,"date":"2019-04-26T16:40:05","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T16:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=9108"},"modified":"2019-04-26T16:40:05","modified_gmt":"2019-04-26T16:40:05","slug":"minimum-wage-nigerian-military-reacts-to-new-salary-structure-for-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/minimum-wage-nigerian-military-reacts-to-new-salary-structure-for-personnel","title":{"rendered":"Minimum wage: Nigerian military reacts to \u2018new\u2019 salary structure for personnel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disowned a document that has gone viral on social media purportedly showing a new upgraded Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) salary structure with effect from May 2019.<\/p>\n<p>A statement on Friday by Col Onyema Nwachukwu, Acting Director Defence Information, stated that the document does not exist, neither does it reflect the true salary structure of personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>It would be recalled that the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Muhammadu Buhari, signed a new minimum wage of thirty thousand Naira (N30,000) on 18 April, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DHQ therefore wishes to reiterate that the purported new salary scale for members of the AFN being circulated is nothing but a false and malicious publication intended to cause disaffection among members of the AFN, as no such salary scale exists\u201d, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also very pertinent for the general public to note that the AFN does not approve salaries for its personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the general public are therefore urged to please discountenance the fake document in its entirety.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disowned a document that has gone viral on social media purportedly showing a new upgraded Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) salary structure with effect from May 2019.
