Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Super Eagles manager and current coach of the Benin national football team, Gernot Rohr, has spoken about some of his bizarre experiences as a European tactician in Africa.<\/p>\n

The Franco-German tactician, in a recent interview with FCBayern(dot)Com, said: \u201cIn my first game with Benin against Rwanda, the ball just wouldn\u2019t go in. Suddenly, a fan ran onto the pitch, grabbed the goalkeeper\u2019s white towel, and disappeared with it. My assistant explained to me that the towel had bewitched us. And sure enough, five minutes later, we scored the equaliser.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Bordeaux defender\u2019s other bizarre experience was during his time in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo years ago in Nigeria, suddenly the Minister of Sports turned up at training with 40 to 50 journalists and wanted to join in the football. I was perplexed. My assistant said we had to let him join in; otherwise, we\u2019d all be gone tomorrow. Without further ado, we added a circle game for him, and everything was fine,\u201d he recounted.<\/p>\n
