Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The remains of a Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan (UI), Isaac Opeyemi Ajewole have been buried.<\/p>\n

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that it is waiting for the time when the killers of one of the deceased would be arrested, paraded and prosecuted.<\/p>\n

The body of the deceased has been committed to mother earth for burial.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent, who has been monitoring the development, reports that the don was buried on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reports that the don was buried amid tears at Cathedral of St. James The Great Cemetery, Ijokodo, Ibadan.<\/p>\n

Pastor Samson Ajetumobi of Men of Issachar Vision, Ibadan in his sermon, said Ajewole\u2019s life was cut short at his prime time.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that those who planned and killed the deceased would also die by gun because the blood of the deceased would get revenge.<\/p>\n

Ajetumobi said, \u201cIt is okay to die because it is a price human beings have to pay but it is not okay to kill because it is punishable before God and men. God determines our days, when you read through the scriptures, you will see that dying is okay but killing is bad. God hates anyone who sheds the blood of the innocent. Nobody owns life. If a man kills, he will account for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our correspondent also reports that a laid-in-state was organised by the University of Ibadan Academic community, friends, family and relations of the deceased at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.<\/p>\n

It was held on Tuesday before the remains of the deceased were committed to mother earth.<\/p>\n

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Registrar, Mr. J.O. Saliu, Pro-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Professor Deji Omole, Director General of Forest Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Professor Zachariah Buba Yaduma and the Provost, Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan, Professor Funmi Aderonmu were at the funeral.<\/p>\n

In his short message at the lying-in-state, ASUU Chairman, Professor Ayo Akinwole, said that the union will continue to fight for justice and ensure that the police arrest the killers of their comrade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe merciless people have cut short the life of our Iroko. We will stay faithful to the course that you stood for. ASUU will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to book\u201d.
\n<\/p>\n

Other speakers, among whom were Bisi Olawuyi, Senior Staff Club President and a representative of the Forestry Association of Nigeria, Afolabi, eulogised the virtues of the deceased.<\/p>\n
