Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Plateau State civil servants have stated their condition to suspend the ongoing strike, saying the government must pay the balance of their February and March salaries.<\/p>\n

Mr Eugene Manji, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, chairman in the state, disclosed this on Wednesday in Jos, the state capital.<\/p>\n

On May 11, the civil servants embarked on an indefinite strike over the government\u2019s failure to meet their demands for salary payment and other entitlements.<\/p>\n

However, Manji said the industrial action would be called off when workers start receiving their pay as agreed.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Manji said: \u201cIt eventually agreed to pay, but not until after the verification of the actual civil service staff strength.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf after the verification and we establish the willingness and commitment to pay, we will meet with the workers and consider the possibility of suspending the strike.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are monitoring the screening, which started on Tuesday and if our members begin to receive their bank credit alerts as government promised, then we will summon a meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n
