Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has reassured the public of the commitment of his government to justice, fairness, and equity in handling issues relating to all faiths in the state.<\/p>\n

The governor stated this while congratulating the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, who is also the chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, on his 25th priestly silver jubilee and book launch at the St. Michael Catholic Cathedral Church, Kontagora.<\/p>\n

Bago, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso, said: \u201cI recognise the importance of religious harmony and the need to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals belonging to different religious beliefs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI reaffirm our unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and equity in treating all faiths within the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him: \u201cNiger State is home to a diverse population comprising people of various religious backgrounds, including Christianity, Islam, and traditional African religions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bago described the cleric as an exceptional leader with compassion and a deep understanding of the spiritual needs of his community.<\/p>\n

While launching the book, \u201cBishop Bulus Yohanna: A Man on a Mission Beyond Mantles,\u201d the governor said the publication is a testament to Bishop Yohanna\u2019s \u201cwisdom, knowledge, and profound insights into matters of faith and spirituality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commending the state CAN chairman and the entire Christendom in the state, the governor noted that the association has played a pivotal role in fostering unity and promoting religious tolerance through the collective efforts of dedicated individuals like Bishop Yohanna.<\/p>\n

The Very Rev John Popoola delivered the homily at the Mass. Other clerics in attendance include Archbishop Mathew Ndaguso of Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province, Bishop Martins Uzokwu and his auxiliary, Bishop Sylvester Gopep, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of Sokoto Diocese, and Bishop Steven Dame of Yola Diocese.<\/p>\n
