{"id":92296,"date":"2023-07-16T06:32:58","date_gmt":"2023-07-16T05:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/service-charge-hike-pos-operators-accuse-fccpc-of-compromise"},"modified":"2023-07-16T08:52:54","modified_gmt":"2023-07-16T07:52:54","slug":"service-charge-hike-pos-operators-accuse-fccpc-of-compromise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/service-charge-hike-pos-operators-accuse-fccpc-of-compromise","title":{"rendered":"Service charge hike: PoS operators accuse FCCPC of compromise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Amid the proposed new price of service charges, the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria has accused the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (Commission) of cherry-picking who to persecute.<\/p>\n<p>The National Publicity Secretary of AMMBAN, Elegbede Segun disclosed this on Saturday in an interview .<\/p>\n<p>Recall that on June 30, the Association\u2019s Lagos Chapter had fixed Monday for the commencement of a new increment price list for PoS charges per transaction.<\/p>\n<p>But, the announcement did not go well with the FCCPC\u2019s Executive Vice Chairman, Babatunde Irukera, who condemned the move and vowed to investigate it.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Elegbade alleged that FCCPC is unfair to PoS operators.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that Bread makers, Multi-choice (DSTV\/GoTV) increased prices severally but FCCPC remained silent.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Commission is grandstanding on its members.<\/p>\n<p>Elegbede stated that FCCPPC should be holistic in its responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>He clarified that the Association is not fixing prices but establishing a framework for better pricing to avoid arbitrary service charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nowhere FCCPC states that the producers should run a business at a loss. I don\u2019t understand the position of the Commission, see bread makers; MultiChoice are increasing prices, but they are not saying anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it because they feel that PoS operators are just jobless people? Why are they flexing or ground-standing on us? Is it that they just want to cherry-pick? We are telling FCCPC to do their job holistically, not pick on people. Also, they should understand what we are facing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not putting a fixed price but rather to get a pricing framework for PoS charges.
