Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for North West, Salihu Lukman, has warned against replacing the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, with the ex-Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje.<\/p>\n

Lukman warned that replacing Adamu with Ganduje would be suicidal for the ruling party. He spoke against the backdrop of reports that President Bola Tinubu had backed Ganduje to emerge as the party\u2019s next National Chairman.<\/p>\n

Last weekend, Adamu tendered his resignation, and it was confirmed by the party\u2019s National Working Committee, NWC, during its meeting on Monday.<\/p>\n

In a statement he signed, Lukman said the choice of Ganduje would violate the zoning arrangement of the ruling party. He stressed the need for the North Central to produce APC\u2019s National Chairman after Adamu, adding that the NWC must sit up and guide the unfolding negotiations.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlready, part of the speculations emerging from the Governor\u2019s bloc is that Ganduje is being considered to succeed Senator Abdullahi Adamu. If this is true, it only suggests insensitivity and taking members of the party for granted. This is without prejudice to the person of Ganduje.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is because such a choice will completely distort the zoning arrangement that informed the present configuration of the leadership of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Senate President coming from North West and North Central shut out of consideration, to propose the party\u2019s National Chairman move to North West from North Central will be unjust and almost political suicide,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
