{"id":92655,"date":"2023-07-22T18:40:10","date_gmt":"2023-07-22T17:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/apc-nwc-disowns-lukman-says-statement-on-party-chairmanship-personal"},"modified":"2023-07-22T20:55:32","modified_gmt":"2023-07-22T19:55:32","slug":"apc-nwc-disowns-lukman-says-statement-on-party-chairmanship-personal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/apc-nwc-disowns-lukman-says-statement-on-party-chairmanship-personal","title":{"rendered":"APC NWC disowns Lukman, says statement on party chairmanship personal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that the statement credited to the party\u2019s National Vice Chairman, North-west, Dr. Salihu Lukman, as regards the chairmanship position of the party is his personal views and does not in any way represent the position of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The party said all the sections of the party\u2019s college of leadership stand united in their quest for a more progressive party.<\/p>\n<p>Lukman had in a statement Friday described the speculation making the rounds that the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdulahi Ganduje might emerge as the next national chairman of the party as insensitive.<\/p>\n<p>However, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka in a statement issued on Saturday said the ruling party was not in crisis.<\/p>\n<p>He said the trending reports in sections of the media suggesting disharmony among members of the NWC or between the National Working Committee, NWC, and other critical sections of the party\u2019s leadership around possible successor to the office of National Chairman are purely speculative.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesman was of the opinion that the rapid and seamless succession, in acting capacities, to both offices exemplifies the cogency of its constitutional processes.<\/p>\n<p>Morka stressed that their resignations under reference showed the high level of institutional maturity and quality of its leadership that placed the best interest of the party first and above personal egos and ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>He stated: \u201cAll sections of the party\u2019s college of leadership stand united in their quest for a more progressive Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile individual party leaders and members retain their right to express their personal thoughts and opinions, they do not represent the official position of the NWC or the Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficial position of the NWC on the subject of succession to any vacant offices of the NWC or any other subject will be communicated via the official channels of the NWC.
