{"id":93946,"date":"2023-08-10T07:43:13","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T06:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ogun-man-defiles-11-year-old-girl-inside-bathroom"},"modified":"2023-08-10T11:36:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T10:36:27","slug":"ogun-man-defiles-11-year-old-girl-inside-bathroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/ogun-man-defiles-11-year-old-girl-inside-bathroom","title":{"rendered":"Ogun: Man defiles 11-year-old girl inside bathroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 20-year-old man, Hammed Lawal has allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl in a local bathroom at Aiyepe Ijebu, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect is currently in police net at the Odogbolu police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The police in Ogun State confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen by the command\u2019s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Odutola, the victim\u2019s father had reported at Odogbolu division that Lawal, a resident of 5, Aba quarters, \u201cunlawfully had carnal knowledge of his daughter inside his bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The parent told the police that the suspect had been \u201charassing his daughter sexually for a long time, but he did not mention what steps he took to scare the suspect off his daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Odutola stated that the defiled girl had been taken to Odogbolu General Hospital for medical examination, emotional therapy and counselling.<\/p>\n<p>While warning that Section 218 of the Criminal Code Act stipulates life imprisonment for any person who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 13 years, Odutola expressed concern that in the penultimate week, \u201cnot less than four defilement cases were reported.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This, she said, prompted the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, to urge parents to embrace authoritative and supporting style of parenting skills which in the long run would build obedience, discipline and confidence in their children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
