{"id":94968,"date":"2023-08-26T12:06:37","date_gmt":"2023-08-26T11:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/labour-party-crisis-apapas-chairmanship-claim-is-false-abures-faction"},"modified":"2023-08-26T12:55:58","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T11:55:58","slug":"labour-party-crisis-apapas-chairmanship-claim-is-false-abures-faction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/labour-party-crisis-apapas-chairmanship-claim-is-false-abures-faction","title":{"rendered":"Labour Party crisis: Apapa\u2019s chairmanship claim is false \u2013 Abure\u2019s faction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party (LP) says the claim by Lamidi Apapa that the court has affirmed him as the authentic National Chairman of the party is false.<\/p>\n<p>Malam Umar Farouk, the National Secretary of the faction, said this at a news conference in Abuja on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Farouk said that the Certified True Copy of the suit did not involve Abure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis conference is called purposely to clear the air on yet another attempt by some of our former members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey rebelled against the party and went ahead to shamelessly misinform members of the public on the considerable progress being made to reposition LP as one of the biggest political parties in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLamidi Apapa and a few others are being sponsored, and their assignment is to ensure that no progress is achieved in the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heavily funded dissidents have tried to mislead the courts and some sections of the media to harass the party leadership, but all have failed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Farouk said that the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin had affirmed Abure as the National Chairman of the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly yesterday, the Court of Appeal Owerri, which sat in Abuja, gave judgement in the case brought before it by one Basil Maduka, one of the two aspirants deceived by the Apapa\u2019s camp to participate in their illegal primaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe matter was on who the real LP candidate in the Imo governorship election is and not to challenge Abure\u2019s position as chairman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe court also ordered that the status quo remain with Sen.
