{"id":95002,"date":"2023-08-27T19:34:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-27T18:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/sam-nkire-sues-for-unity-in-abia-apc"},"modified":"2023-08-27T22:18:04","modified_gmt":"2023-08-27T21:18:04","slug":"sam-nkire-sues-for-unity-in-abia-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/sam-nkire-sues-for-unity-in-abia-apc","title":{"rendered":"Sam Nkire sues for unity in Abia APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former leader of the Abia State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sam Nkire, has called for unity of purpose among party members in the state chapter of the party.<\/p>\n<p>He made the call in a statement forwarded on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Nkire, who also doubled as a board of trustees (BoT) member of the ruling APC in Nigeria, regretted that the lingering internal crisis in the state chapter had caused the party more damage than good, hence the important need for reunion by aggrieved members of the progressive party.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to all party leaders in Abia State to shun divisions and take action to unite the party to become one formidable entity capable of winning elections.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cThere is no other time for a united front than now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nkire also used the medium to applaud the inauguration of a former State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, as the new National Welfare Secretary of the governing party in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Nwankpa had not only paid his dues to the party from the onset but was also best fitted to fill the vacant position zoned to Abia by the leadership of the APC.<\/p>\n<p>The prominent Abia elder statesman begged co-contestants for the position of APC national welfare secretary to sheathe their swords and congratulate Nwankpa in the interest of unity.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST recalls that the recent elevation of the ex-Abia chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), followed the unfortunate demise of former occupant, Barrister Friday Nwosu, in March 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The late Nwosu was elected as the welfare officer of the governing APC in the country at a well-concluded national convention of the party which took place in March 2022 in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Last Wednesday, the leadership of the party released an amended list of party members to fill some vacant positions on the national working committee of the APC.<\/p>\n<p>Donatus Nwamkpa, was nominated and inaugurated to fill the vacant position of National Welfare Secretary of the party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
