Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday directed the remodelling of the state\u2019s specialist hospital in Maiduguri, with new structures to be built.<\/p>\n

Zulum also ordered the rehabilitation of Buba Marwa House, which serves as an accommodation for medical doctors working at the specialist hospital.<\/p>\n

The governor gave both directives on Saturday afternoon during an assessment visit to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have examined the capacity of the hospital, and we will soon embark on erecting more structures and make certain adjustments in such a way that doctors and other health allied staff will have offices in the premises,\u201d Zulum said.<\/p>\n

The governor also announced that medical equipment will be procured and more medical staff, including doctors and nurses, will be recruited.<\/p>\n

\u201cBorno State Government will procure medical equipment that are currently not available at the hospital. We will recruit more doctors and nurses and ensure wash facilities are provided,\u201d Zulum said.<\/p>\n

He noted that \u201call these efforts are geared towards re-positioning the health care system in Borno State.\u201d<\/p>\n

Governor Zulum was accompanied to the assessment by Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, and some top government officials.<\/p>\n
