Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Heads of security agencies in Yobe State have assured the government and people of the state that they will intensify surveillance and patrols to stem the tide of herdsmen attacks, kidnapping, banditry, and rape across the state.<\/p>\n

They gave the assurance through the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Garba, who briefed newsmen on the outcome of the routine security meeting presided over by Governor Mai Mala Buni.<\/p>\n

A statement signed on Wednesday by Hussaini Mai Sule, the Press Secretary to the Yobe State Deputy Governor, appealed to the people of the state to continue to support security agencies and provide necessary information in order to continue to enjoy the relative peace that reigns in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting equally appreciated the efforts of traditional rulers and community leaders in conflict resolution in their respective domains,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The North-East Governors Forum (NEGF), in its 8th meeting held in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, lamented over the growing cases of banditry in the subregion.<\/p>\n

The forum had called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene to address this issue.<\/p>\n
