Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A military operation is been conducted by Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in search of the abducted Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Mathew Abo.<\/p>\n

Hon Abo was kidnapped last Sunday by some gunmen, who invaded his house at Zaki Biam in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.<\/p>\n

A family source disclosed that his abductors had established contact with the family and demanded N60 million ransom.<\/p>\n

A serious search was on to ensure the release of the Hon Abo from the kidnappers\u2019 den.<\/p>\n

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS, in collaboration with heads of other sister security agencies were on top of the situation.<\/p>\n

The source who spoke under anonymity said, \u201cOfficers and men of OPWS and other security agencies have been charged to work assiduously towards ensuring that they rescue the kidnapped Commissioner from the hands of his abductors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source further said, \u201cHeads of other security agencies in concert with the Force Commander, OPWS, Major General Sunday Igbinowanhia have vowed that they would not rest on their oars until the Hon Aboh regains his freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the speculation that his abductors are demanding for ransom, the military officer said that the OPWS do not negotiate with insurgents and bandits.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cOur men are already combing the surrounding area and forests and in no distant future, you will hear good news.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are doing everything in conjunction with other security agencies in the Joint Operations Area to rescue the Hon Aboh.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed that the operation in search of the kidnapped commissioner was a combined one.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a joint operation in search of the abducted commissioner which involved the military, we are all together,\u201d Anene said<\/p>\n
