Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called on the Nigerian elite to work towards building consensus on where they want the country to be.<\/p>\n

While addressing the people of Kaduna State on the occasion of the country\u2019s 63rd Independence Anniversary, he noted that at independence in 1960, the people had great expectations of a prosperous future, saying that the founding fathers envisioned a country that will become the Leading Black Nation on Earth.<\/p>\n

He said 63 years after, Nigerians were yet to succeed in forging a truly Nigerian spirit, regretting that ethnic and religious differences were still being exploited in furtherance of personal or collective interests.<\/p>\n

He further regretted, \u201cWe are still struggling to address developmental challenges, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and security. The increasing poverty level is a major source of worry for political leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Governor believed that to ensure internal security challenges, the country should resume peacekeeping and enforcement roles in West Africa and Africa, come together and support their security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of criminality.<\/p>\n

In Kaduna State, he said that the administration is fully committed to securing the state, and rebuilding trust in its communities by ensuring justice, equity and fair play by resolving to bring succour to the poor.<\/p>\n

As a result, he said that he has constituted the Financial Inclusion and Literacy Committee to ensure that the poor, vulnerable and underserved in the rural areas benefit from state and federal governments social intervention programmes.<\/p>\n

\u201cRural Transformation is a cardinal focus of our administration. We want to revitalize the rural economies through massive infrastructural development. We want every citizen of the state to feel the impact of the government. No part of the state will be left behind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to return Kaduna State to its original place as the melting pot of Nigerian nationalities. We seek the support and cooperation of our citizens to build the Kaduna State of our dreams,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n
