{"id":96714,"date":"2023-10-02T21:55:29","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T20:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/maritime-workers-cancel-indefinite-strike"},"modified":"2023-10-03T00:33:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-02T23:33:23","slug":"maritime-workers-cancel-indefinite-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/maritime-workers-cancel-indefinite-strike","title":{"rendered":"Maritime workers cancel indefinite strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have directed their members to resume work at the nation\u2019s seaports and oil and gas platform.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the union had earlier ordered closure of all the nation\u2019s Seaports, Jetties, Oil &amp; Gas platforms and Terminals in compliance with the organized labour\u2019s directive on the indefinite strike which was to commence on Tuesday, October 3.<\/p>\n<p>President-General of MWUN, Prince Adewale Adeyanju, in a statement on Monday night, said an agreement had been reached with the government and the strike would no longer hold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly suspend the indefinite strike billed for October 3, 2023 following the removal of fuel subsidy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be recalled that the Nigeria Labour Congress had directed its affiliate member Unions across the country to mobilize and shut down the country following the refusal of government to adhere to the seven points demand made by the NLC and the TUC to ameliorate the suffering of the teeming Nigerian Workers and the impoverished masses of the country\u201d, a statement signed by MWUN media head, Com John Kennedy Ikemefuna.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress are still in a meeting with the federal government as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
