Lack of sustainable development due to poor implementation remains the major challenge affecting the most populous country in Africa including its 36 states.<\/p>\n
Both Federal and state governments have ministries of planning and economic developments but have little to show interns of translating the different document designed for progress in to actions<\/p>\n
To achieve sustainable development which will create an enabling environment for economic growth Enugu State governor Peter Mba has entered into a bilateral with Indonesian government in order to achieve the stated goals.<\/p>\n
Enugu State Governor’s Initiative to Partner with Indonesia a right decision to achieve speedy development<\/b><\/p>\n
As a move to drive speedy development to a state with less internally generated revenue Governor, Peter Mbah has recently initiated a bilateral engagement with the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Usra Hendra Harahap.<\/p>\n
The governor expressed his administration’s readiness to establish an enabling environment to foster higher sustainable development in the state.<\/p>\n
The partnership with Indonesia is set to stimulate rapid socio-political, economic, and business development opportunities that will create jobs for the youth. He noted that to achieve holistic development, there is a need to have basic amenities such as enough food, nutrition, employment opportunities and elimination of all forms of inequality that lead to poverty.<\/p>\n
Barrister Mbah revealed that his administration is set to build a strong transport and communication industry in the state to enhance economic activities further. He has declared his desire to transform Enugu State into a new hub focusing on human investment as his ultimate goal.<\/p>\n
The partnership initiative with Indonesia will also put Enugu State on a track to achieve sustainable development, opening the state to a world of opportunities.<\/p>\n
Electricity generation as catalyst towards Industrialisation<\/b><\/p>\n
In an effort by governor Peter Mba to affirm his commitment towards Industrialized Enugu State.He recently assented in to law the Enugu State Electricity Bill, describing it as a major step towards economic growth and making the state the premier destination for investment, business, tourism, and living.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the signing event which took place at the Government House, Enugu, Dr. Mbah said the quest by his administration to build Enugu State\u2019s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion would translate to a pipe dream without adequate and stable power supply, hence the need for the Electricity Bill which is assented in to law. The generation, transmission, and distribution companies that will flow from it.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, this is a significant and very important Law towards the achievement of the Enugu of our dreams because the development and growth of Enugu will all be predicated on the platter that this law has created. You cannot talk about industry or private sector investment if you don\u2019t have electricity or power.<\/p>\n
Enugu, under our administration, is designed and indeed prepared to be the premier destination for investment and this law is part of the enablers.<\/p>\n
Therefore, we thank members of the Enugu State House of Assembly for the expeditious way they treated this Bill, which has become Law today by this assent\u201d, Governor Mba said.<\/p>\n
The signing was witnessed by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Ugwu, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ezenta Ezeani; the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kingsley Udeh; the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, among other state functionaries.<\/p>\n
Banning of illegal mining as another measure to achieve economic prosperity and ensure security<\/b><\/p>\n
Enugu State government has ordered all illegal mining activities in the state to stop immediately, warning of dire consequences for any illegal miner that flouts its directives.<\/p>\n
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia announced the decision in a statement recently in Enugu.<\/p>\n
He said the government observed that it was in the overriding interest of the public to protect the people from any hazard or pollution, and also maintain equal rights of benefits accruable from any mineral resources to the people of the state.<\/p>\n
“Following the directive by His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, on the report of the discovery of mineral resources in some communities in Enugu State; and the illegal mining of such mineral resources in those communities without the authorization or consent of the State Government, I hereby direct that all illegal mining activities in Enugu State should stop with immediate effect”, the statement reads.<\/p>\n
The need for Enugu State Citizens to support Governor Mba’s Policies and programs<\/b><\/p>\n
Aisha Sambo is a business operator in Enugu State.She described the transformative agenda of governor Peter Mba as unique as he came up with the initiatives that the previous administrations lack.<\/p>\n

“I am optimistic that the governor’s policies of attracting investments, promoting education, improving the water supply, youth empowerment,and electricity generation through enabling laws will really enhance the speedy development of the state” She said.<\/p>\n
Aisha Sambo also expressed that governor Mba’s giant stride within hundred days in office is another indicator of his determination towards making the 32 old years state a new haven for investors and Industrial development.<\/p>\n
However if the other Nigerian State governors will emulate Peter Mba’s policies of economic transformation and job creation through his readiness to partner with countries like Indonesia and other developed nations to ensure sustainable progress Nigeria will soon be a country of great fortunes.<\/p>\n
Also his determination to improve the Revenue generation of the state from 4.4 billion dollars to 30 billion dollars is another point that the rest of the governor’s should emulate as most of the states lack well planned policies for more revenue generations.<\/p>\n
The issue of illegal mining which the governor confronted with vigor is another mile stone as the Federal and state governments are now seeing it as a sector that worth the attention as an alternative sources of revenue generation even though such minerals were discovered prior to the discovery of oil which is now considered as the main sources of the Nigeria’s foreign earning.<\/p>\n
