Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Government has lamented that the biggest problem in Nigeria\u2019s health sector is inadequate human resources in medical facilities across the country.<\/p>\n

The Executive Secretary of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shu\u2019aibu, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, in Dutse, the state capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest challenge that we have in the primary healthcare in Nigeria is human resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we have adequate human resources we would be able to improve the quality of healthcare delivery, we would be able to get primary healthcare centers where our citizens will be excited about going because they know when they get there they will be treated with respect and dignity and care,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Shu\u2019aibu explained that the team from the agency was in Jigawa State to support the diphtheria outbreak response in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here to support the diphtheria outbreak response, to see how to provide meaningful support and guidance to strengthen primary health care as contained in your 12 points agendas.\u201d<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reported that the state has recorded 146 suspected diphtheria cases and three deaths.<\/p>\n

Shu\u2019aibu commended the governor for supporting many of the Federal Government\u2019s initiatives in the health sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cAllocating 15% budget on the health sector, bridging human resources gap, reducing material and infant mortality and improving routine immunization in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis makes the state to win the $500\u2019000 PHCA 2023 leadership award for the NorthWest in the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Responding the governor commended the Federal Government for its timely response to health issues in the state and the country in general.<\/p>\n
