Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has reiterated his administration\u2019s commitment to join forces with the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) in order to ensure that the state remains peaceful and calm.<\/p>\n

He made the commitment on Monday when he stormed the Defence Headquarters in Abuja to solicit a helping hand from the Chief of Defense Staff, General Chris Musa.<\/p>\n

The governor, who made the pledge via a press statement made available to journalists in Jalingo by his Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, expressed dissatisfaction over the activities of the Cameroonian Ambazonians in the state.<\/p>\n

He urged the CDS to, as a matter of urgency, increase troops to make the state safer.<\/p>\n

He assured that his administration is going to assist the military in whatever capacity to succeed in addressing the security challenges presently bedevilling the state.<\/p>\n

On his part, the CDS was said to have assured the governor that the armed forces are going to put in all that is required for Taraba to be peaceful.<\/p>\n

He noted that measures to address Ambazonian threats in some parts of the state, are already in the pipeline.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, the governor was also said to have reached out to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, to demand the establishment of a naval base in the state to combat security challenges.<\/p>\n

The governor, who also stressed his administration\u2019s readiness to collaborate with the navy to safeguard the lives of the people of the state, said navy is key in providing desired security to the state considering the presence of tributaries of rivers across the state, and involving the navy became imperative.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaraba State shared borders with six states and the Republic of Cameroon, hence, the need for adequate security strategies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
