Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A public affairs commentator, Ahmed Bakare, has lamented that if bandits can enter a town and kill police officers, including a Divisional Police Officer in Zamfara State, then the northern part of the country is no longer safe.<\/p>\n

Bakare made these remarks in an interview in Gusau on Friday.<\/p>\n

He lamented that the overall security situation in the state has become worrisome, perplexing, and embarrassing and called for a well-coordinated security network to address the worsening situation.<\/p>\n

He noted that the current administration led by Governor Dauda Lawal cannot accomplish any developmental projects without peace in the state, while also pointing out that even investors are rapidly leaving the state due to security concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has come to a point where we can no longer avoid facing the reality. Let us tell ourselves the truth: governments at all levels are aware of what is happening in Zamfara State, but they seem indifferent due to the benefits they gain from these inhumane deals,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

Bakare stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot claim to have developed the northern part of the country without addressing these pressing security challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cI advise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the Almajiri education issue, as former President Goodluck Jonathan did, which helped bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam during his tenure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bakare further noted that insecurity is more pronounced in the North than in any other part of the country, and potential investors are reluctant to invest in the region due to the ongoing banditry.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day, we hear reports of killings, kidnappings, and other violent incidents. Why, in an independent country, must we endure this?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n
