Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State of sending thugs to attack the village of its president, Joe Ajaero.<\/p>\n

NLC\u2019s Head of Media and Information, Benson Upah, alleged that Uzodinma sent the thugs to assassinate Ajaero on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Upah claimed that the attack on Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, the hometown of the NLC president, was \u201ccarried out under the misguided belief that Comrade Ajaero was still present, recovering from injuries inflicted by the police and hired thugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Sunday, Upah said last week\u2019s attack on Ajaero was an attempt to suppress and brutalize the NLC president.<\/p>\n

The statement reads in part: \u201cIn a shocking turn of events, on the morning of November 4th, 2023, Governor Hope Uzodimma once again demonstrated his utter disregard for human rights and democratic principles by invading and attacking the community of Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, Owerri, Imo State, the hometown of NLC President.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is evident that the governor\u2019s sinister objective is the assassination of the president of the congress, a motive laid bare by this latest act of aggression on the community. This invasion was carried out under the misguided belief that Comrade Ajaero was still present, recovering from injuries inflicted by the police and hired thugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

On November 1, some thugs attacked and brutalised Ajaero in Owerri, the state capital during a protest by the organised labour.<\/p>\n

The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma to order.<\/p>\n
