Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of shifting the goalpost in the middle of the game during the election<\/p>\n

Recall that INEC had on many occasions promised Nigerians electronic transmission of results.<\/p>\n

However, the results ended up being collated manually, especially those of the Presidential election.<\/p>\n

Obi approached the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to seek redress after INEC\u2019s declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election.<\/p>\n

The PEPT upheld INEC\u2019s decision and Obi headed to the Supreme Court and was also defeated.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media on Monday, Obi blamed INEC for his defeat saying the electoral umpire \u2018shifted the goalpost in the middle of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

He, however, vowed that \u201cWe are not giving up,\u201d adding that \u201cThis is just the beginning of our quest for a new Nigeria<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now effectively in the opposition,\u201d the former Anambra State Governor said.<\/p>\n
