Africa-Press – Rwanda. Action is continuing to heat up at the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors/J30. The quarter-finals which unfolded on Thursday, April 24 delivered thrilling performances as various international players showcased talent at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Courts.

The tournament, which has brought together over 50 top junior talents from across the globe, is now heading into the semifinals set for Friday, April 25.

At the quarter final stage, top-seeded Indian player Shaurya Swarup pulled off a hard-fought comeback, rallying from a set down to defeat Great Britain’s Jack Berry 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.

In another three-set thriller, Greece’s Joseph Roboly edged France’s Jaylon Gabet 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to book his spot in the last four.

American sixth seed Eaden-Zack Harron stunned second seed, Nishit Arimilli of India, with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Egypt’s Hassan Shoaib, seeded eighth, ousted fourth seed Kyungone Kim of South Korea 7-6(3), 6-2.

Boys’ semi-final line-up (Friday, April 25):

In the girls category, the Indian’s top seed Jannat Chiripal dominated with a solid 6-1, 6-3 win over Botswana’s Nina Sekonopo. Fellow Indian Janvi Asawa showed similar form, dispatching South Africa’s Paballo Chuene 6-3, 6-1.

Egypt’s third seed Sara Dessouky advanced after her opponent, Natalia Drobca of Moldova, retired midway through the second set (6-4, 4-0). Italy’s Camilla Mizzi, the fourth seed, breezed past Kenya’s Seline Ahoya 6-0, 6-1.
